The Vision 2020 Process

Some communities allow the future to happen to them. Successful communities decide the future is something they can create. These communities take the time to produce a vision of the future they desire and employ a process that help them achieve their goals ... National Civic League Handbook

This plan for Greater Lafayette maps out a direction the community can take over the next 15-20 years to achieve its goals. The plan is the result of input from over 1000 community members. Hundreds committed to meeting from September 2000 through May 2001. Stakeholders met for 11, 3 ½ hour meetings over these nine months. Other community involvement was actively sought to ensure as broad based participation as possible. This plan is the compilation of all that input.

This Vision 2020 process is consensus-based, inclusive, and evolving.
Activity is occurring in each of the Action areas. This web site is designed to keep you up to date on what is taking place as it relates to each objective or action step.

Your input continues to be invaluable, comments are encouraged. This is an opportunity to continue to give your ideas. Please be aware that to receive a reply or acknowledgement, you must include your email address.

Thank you for your continued interest in Vision 2020.
